On behalf of our entire staff, it is a pleasure to welcome you to Lighthouse Tutoring. Whether you are a current member or prospective member, we want you to explore the benefits of and opportunities for academic success. Our primary mission is to provide academic support for each of our students so that they may develop into strong, independent learners on the path to college and beyond. Understanding that a little help at regular intervals is not a punishment but rather a belief in the ability to succeed in a competitive and difficult academic environment, we work hard to create a safe, positive, and comfortable space to fail and succeed in order to encourage real, long-term learning.

As the director of Lighthouse Tutoring, it is a privilege for me to work with a staff of professional college graduates who are well-versed in the development of skills in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. Together, we teach our students that they can succeed and all it usually takes is a great attitude, the right effort, and the desire to succeed.

If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you for visiting our website. We are located in the Stater Bros/Stein Mart shopping center near the San Diego County Credit Union, and we look forward to working with you in person soon!

Your child’s future is unpredictable, yet full of hope; scary, yet full of wonder; and a long time from now, yet will arrive sooner than we are prepared for. We, as parents, could fill our days worrying about our child’s future. But if all we did was worry, we’d hold them back. They’d never learn, never fail, never try, never discover, and never hope. We want to help you do what you know is best for them. You don’t have a lot of time (and sometimes lack the patience) to sit with them and help them with their work or learn a new academic skill. Your child’s future is largely based around school and academics. You know what they can do, and we share that faith in them. Let us help you show them of what they are capable.

Not symptom focused. We do an assessment to evaluate the current level of knowledge/skill. But from that point forward, we tutor based on the strengths and weaknesses of the student, not what they know and/or do not know. One program does not fit all students. Each student learns differently so we need to tutor each student differently.

Not all students go to college, which is a reality. But all students CAN go to college. We like to think of every student that walks through our doors as potential 4-year university attendees. We also like to think of every door being open until the student decides to close it. The door to college is always open here.

The SAT and ACT is not a requirement for many schools as of June 2020.  However, some colleges still make it a requirement or are making it optional.  Please ensure you know what your colleges of interest are asking for.  While it may still be important, it is not the only factor. GPA, Essay, Resume, and Transcripts complete the package. But don’t let the SAT or ACT put you on the bottom of the pile!

I had Jason as my tutor in pre-calculus my junior year of high school and he was incredible. He always explained concepts in ways I could understand and we would work on it until I mastered each section. I ended the year with an A in the class and still have the same confidence in math that I had when he tutored me. I will always recommend this tutoring center, they are THE best!

I was out of school for three years, and they were able to help me get the score I needed on my ACT to get into college, and then receive a 3.5 GPA my first semester of college, Jason is great, and very passionate about his work!

I came into Lighthouse Tutoring for help with the Military Entrance Exam ASVAB. I was struggling with the Arithmetic Reasoning and Math Knowledge part of the Exam for the Army. Jason was very helpful and knowledgeable about the subject matter that I need assistance with and I was able to boost my score from a 28 on the retest to a 41. A significant Improvement of my overall score. I would recommend the Lighthouse Tutoring for anyone who is thinking about the Military or needs help with anything related to schooling in general. THANKS AGAIN Jason. You helped me achieve something that I have wanted to do for a very very long time. If I ever need help with anything related to school, I will defiantly return to Lighthouse Tutoring.

I really recommend Lighthouse Tutoring if you are looking for extra assistance in any subject area! I attended tutoring here for 2 years and with their help, I passed the classes I was focusing on. Jason and his other staff members are all very nice and very helpful. Thanks Jason for helping me pass Algebra 2 and Chemistry, couldn't have done it without you!!!
